NEVER SEPARATED FROM LIFE AND LOVE

I feel great compassion for those who have lost loved ones and firmly believe, as the Bible teaches, that life is eternal, everlasting. A favorite Bible citation of mine says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

At the time when my 44-year-old son (who was not a Christian Scientist) became ill for three months and then passed on, I'd been studying Christian Science for about 18 years. This study helped me get through this tragic time in my life. Each day, before and after his passing, I found the strength I needed in the weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly.

Also, a practicing Christian Science friend shared something helpful for me to understand whenever I called her. When I was struggling with just how to pray, my friend suggested I pray with the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation by Mary Baker Eddy, found in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (pp. 16–17). She encouraged me to think of my son in the sanctuary of Spirit, where God was taking care of his welfare. This made me trust that God's will for him would always be good.
