A CHRISTIAN APPROACH TO SPIRITUAL HEALING
The following are answers to some of the questions posed by Internet participants during a recent live chat on spirituality.com that featured TOM BLACK, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science from Detroit, Michigan. Tom has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society, and is currently a member of the Christian Science Board of Directors. To hear the complete chat, go to www.spirituality.com/chats/spiritualhealing.
Can you be a Christian Scientist and also belong to a recovery group or a 12-step program like Alcoholics Anonymous?
I don't see why not. But your question raises another question: "Who is a Christian Scientist?" Is it somebody who's a church member? Well, perhaps, but not necessarily, because Mrs. Eddy was never a member of her Church, though membership is a wonderful expression of commitment today.
