For hearts in need
More than once I've heard about people who were saved from taking their lives when a friend, a family member, even a stranger, was motivated to express some modest act of love. One story described a person who stood on a bridge contemplating ending his life, when a pedestrian walked by and casually complimented him on his hiking shoes. That was enough to save him from making a drastic choice.
I've often thought about stories like that — they actually bring tears to my eyes sometimes, when I consider the fact that simple, yet profound acts of kindness do have the power to make a huge difference in someone else's life.
The love we would show toward another is always a direct expression of God, who is Love. He effortlessly maintains our existence. His love is powerful enough to scoop us up out of darkness, or to impel the gentle angel messages we sometimes especially need to feel cheered and cared for.
