Age-Les

A few weeks ago, my wife and I and a friend went to the Iridium Jazz Club in New York to see Les Paul, who regularly appears there.

Les Paul, as some who are popular music aficionados from the 1950s and '60s might know, is an ace guitar player who also invented the solid-body electric guitar in 1941. Married to singer Mary Ford, "Les Paul and Mary Ford" had a TV show in the '50s that boasted such songs as "Mockin' Bird Hill" and "Vaya Con Dios."

Les "retired" in the '60s but began performing again in the '70s. He won a Grammy in 2006, at the age of 90. Today Les hosts a very enthusiastic crowd of all ages, for two shows a night every Monday at the Iridium.
