Congratulations to Rebecca Odegaard for practically applying the old, old story of Jesus' birth in the December 18 Sentinel ["Soul-filled days"] to our everyday life. Her article, "The Christmas story and the healer," gave the story new meaning for me. I'll never read it without contemplating the four concepts she posits, and how they apply to what I'm praying about: Preparation of thought; Trusting God's message; The animated, ready response; and The availability of the Christ.
I've already begun searching for new meaning in Bible stories. Take the story of Zacchaeus. How many of us would climb a tree when a dignitary was walking by? It was this man's persistence that gained the attention of Jesus and led to his reformation. Do we persist until healing is revealed?
