Following His lead
"Well, don't expect me to get a job!" That was my response when my husband announced he'd been laid off after significant cutbacks in his company. At the time, I was content being a stay-at-home mom, especially since our youngest was just a year and a half.
But right on the heels of my response came this quiet, yet persistent thought: Maybe it is my turn. In the days and weeks that followed, I recognized this thought as divine direction. The message was a bit like the one on our cover this week—"God has work for you." I trusted this leading. And sure enough, soon I found myself starting a new, exciting career that has brought me to where I am today.
I've seen over how human economy, opinion, résumés, even well-laid plans are never the decisive factors in our lives. Instead we can each rest in the security conveyed by the words of this hymn:
