The universe of healing

'WHAT'S DRIVING THE INTEREST in spiritual healing?" That's the title of the first article this week, written by Margaret Rogers. More than just a one-time question with a streamlined answer, it is foundational to what this magazine discusses frequently from week to week and year to year. And the answers that present themselves have so many different tones and textures. (I wonder if Margaret would even have taken on the assignment if she thought she'd have to write the definitive statement for all time!)

As each exploration of spiritual healing builds on the one that came before it, our perspective on the topic becomes that much sharper, and the fact becomes more apparent: It's happening . . . it's out there! Sometimes the signs are obvious. But often they're not so apparent. For example, consider the research of Dr. Bobbie McKay and Lewis Musil, presented in Warren Bolon's article on page 8, and you'll see that those who find God healing them in very profound ways are often silent, at a loss to articulate and share their transforming experiences—even within the walls of their own houses of worship. Spiritual healing is multifaceted and evolutionary. And exploring the many forms it takes in the world today is, for us, a wonderful, ongoing project.

Which reminds me of something new in this double issue of the Sentinel---the three spreads devoted to covering teen issues, beginning on page 24. We want teenagers to have a voice in our pages, and so we've made a commitment to publish their ideas and experiences on a regular basis. They clearly are part of a rising generation that sees the value of looking to God for life's answers.
