In March, almost 4.7 million readers visited CSMonitor.com, the website of The Christian Science Monitor, setting a new monthly record. Readership on the site has increased nearly ten-fold from a monthly average of half a million visitors prior to 9/11. This dramatic growth results from several factors including patnerships with prominent search engines, daily broadcast appearences by Monitor reporters, and the growing interest in international news.

Launched in 1996, CSMonitor.com was twice named "Best Overall US Newspaper Online Service" by Editor and Publisher magazine and has won numerous other awards. It features the complete contents of the print edition, full electronic archives dating back to 1980, and original material written for the site.

CSMonitor.com nears 4.7 million visitors The number of unique visitors* to The Christian Science Monitor's electronic edition has spiked during world events. The new readership has been retained.
