Acceptance
Accepting
The simplicity of Christ
Is hard to do.
Accustomed
To complexity,
We can be blind
To the clarity
Of his word.
Such reassurance
The words are there,
The meaning plain:
"Seek first the kingdom of God,"
"Love one another,"
Direct, unambiguous.
And yet,
Enmeshed in nets
Of doubt and fear,
We struggle to obey.
Let us be still,
Take him at his word
As little children do.
Hear the message
"I am the way"
and put our feet upon that path
in simple trust
—Margaret MacIsaac
