A quick healing of back pain
One evening as I was getting ready for bed, I suddenly felt an exruciating pain in my back. It just came out of the blue. Right away, these words came to mind:"... keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them" (Mary Baker Eddy, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 210). I knew by heart the whole paragraph that includes this statement, and I thought that if I could lie down, I could pray with the healing ideas it contains.
When I was finally able to get into bed, however, I found it impossible to get comfortable. After continuing to struggle for a while, I managed to pull myself to an upright position in order to reach the phone and call a Christian Science practitioner for help.
The practitioner said that she would begin to give me Christian Science treatment through prayer immediately. And she encouraged me, "Remember that you are spiritual and perfect." Greatly reassured, I turned out the light and scrunched back under the covers. And I began to think about what it meant to be spiritual and perfect. If that described my true status and nature, then nothing could be out of whack about me—no malfunctioning, no discomfort could attach itself to me. Being spiritual means having the nature of God—which is perfect.
