When I prayed

A couple of years ago, I discovered a wart on my middle toe. It was right smack between two toes and made it uncomfortable for me to walk. So I decided to pray. I usually ask my mom to pray for me, but I thought that this time I would like to do it on my own.

I prayed the Lord's Prayer. In Sunday School we were working on memorizing the 23rd Psalm, so I prayed with that, too. Also, I thought of a line in Science and Health, that says to "stand porter at the door of thought" (p. 392). This helped me a lot because I knew that this wart was not a part of me. I had to be a "porter" by only letting in thoughts about how I was a child of God and how God would never let any of His children get a wart or be sick. Instead I had to think about how we are all good, like God, because we reflect God. Nothing bad can enter God's reflection.

Then one day I was pulling off my sock, and I saw this round thing drop to the floor. It was the wart! Without any bleeding or anything, it just slipped right off. I was so happy.
