WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT MARY BAKER EDDY

Someone who let her light shine in a big way—for all of humanity—was Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered Christian Science. Nine-year-old Kate MacDermott recently found out about Mary Baker Eddy when she visited a Christian Science Reading Room. She was impressed by all the books about this woman and decided to read some. Kate then wrote her own "biography" of Mary Baker Eddy and sent it to the Kids' Sentinel. Here's what she wrote:

Mary Baker Eddy was a kind and gentle woman. She healed the sick and comforted those who were sad. People all over loved Mary just the way she loved them.

Mary was a New England girl. She lived in New Hampshire. Her father's name was Mark, and her mother's name was Abigail. Mary was the youngest of all of her brothers and sisters. Their names were Samuel, Albert, George, Abigail, and Martha. Mary's mother talked about God and read from the Bible. The song Mary's mother sang to Mary was "How can I sleep while angels sing, and hover over my bed, and clap their wings in joy to Him who is their glorious head?" Mary's family made sugar from the sap of maple trees. Mary loved the psalms of David.
