We're learning how GOD cares for family
I Think Every Parent would like to feel that there's a panacea in the household medicine cabinet—a remedy for every illness, accident, and misfortune that a family might encounter. But most of us realize that no one pill or potion or bandage could ever meet all those needs.
Yet, I've found that there is a panacea. And we've known about it for thousands of years. Psalm 46 praises this sure cure: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (verse 1). Well, that sounds very comforting. But just how is God going to help us care for our families?
To make spiritual care a practical approach in raising our children, I've had to stretch my understanding of who God is and what He does. I've had to come to understand on a deeper level that God is Love—divine, infinite, ever-present Love. To feel that presence of Love with me (and I think of this presence as always with us) is to know that God is taking care of everything, tenderly and intelligently and powerfully.
