Shelter welcomes Sentinel
The recent issue on abuse (July9) seemed to be appropriate for the women's shelter in my city. When I mailed it to them, I offered to give them a years subscription to the Sentinel. The thank-you not I received stated, "The article on abuse was very thought-provoking and encouraging. I would like to take you up on your offer to purchase a magazine subscription for the shelter. Both staff and clients would appreciate it."
I also share copies of the Sentinel with my neighbor, the pastor of a United Pentecostal church. I lately found out that his wife is also reading them. How easy it is to share the Sentinel!

Love was there
I was especially impressed with the interview with Noel Fischer, "Where is God...when people need your help?" in the instances he related, each circumstance was met with such love and conviction! The thoughts expressed were so easily understood that each person involved could not help but feel the love of the Christ, Truth.
We can all do better when it comes to helping people in need. Indeed, we can trust God to give us the strength we need to help our friends and anyone who is in need.

FOCUS
I am so grateful that the Sentinel is being offered to the world with a "focus" for each issue. The magazine's stated purpose, "Watching the world from a spiritual perspective," requires it. Watching cannot be properly done without focus! There is no way that the subject of a "focus" cannot apply to me.
My purpose in picking up the Sentinel is not limited to finding comfort and inspiration regarding problems within my personal experience of the moment (though this happens frequently!) It is to avail myself of the opportunity the Sentinel provides to join with others all over the world in considering issues that confront us collectively, and to view them from the standpoint what is being accomplished through prayer and practical Christianity to improve humanity's conditions.
The focus then carries over to my own prayers for mankind, and there is such a joy in knowing that others are working and praying with me. The variety needed in this spiritual perspective is provided in the wide array of focus subjects. Each week the over shines at me through the stack of mail with a fresh new topic. Thank you for being such a light to my efforts to live what Jesus identified as the second great commandment to love your neighbor as yourself.

More Soul!
I wanted to share with you how much I enjoy the new format I have seen lately for the poetry placing it over a full page photograph. I have always been a major poetry enthusiast and have often saved and posted poetry which had spiritual in sights for me or taken the opportunity to pass it along to someone I knew who would enjoy it or benefit from its spiritual message. This new format brings just a little more Soul to the experience!
