God's care ends worry and pain
A good friend and I had planned a week-long trip to Boston. Although I was concerned about my husband (of more than 50 years), I had agreed to go. Some months earlier he'd had chest pains, and although he was doing well, I was concerned. But I went ahead with my travel plans.
On the weekend before the trip, my husband and I went to our vacation home. while there, I began to have chest, arm, and shoulder pains —like my husband's. I was afraid. We decided to leave that isolated area, so the next day my husband drove us home.
I was quite upset because of the pain, and because I was concerned that this would interfere with the trip to Boston. I didn't want to disappoint my friend or cause her any inconvenience but was afraid I wouldn't be able to go. I called a Christian Science practitioner to help me pray for healing. I gave her a short description of the symptoms, but then found myself telling her how concerned I was about my husband's health. We agreed immediately that his well-being was not dependent on my being with him. We knew that God was caring for all of His sons and daughters at all times and in all places.
