Quality of life improves
One day many years ago, I opened my pay envelope and found a pink slip, indicating that my employer no longer required my services. The corporation's board of directors, motivated by the Great Depression, had made a blanket ruling that all whitecollar employees who had not served at least three years were to be terminated. I'd missed holding on to my job by just a couple of months. I was overcome by a feeling of hatred toward those who had made this arbitrary decision. What to do?
I was able to support my family in a much better fashion.
