There's no better day than today
Now are you happy?
Sometimes our problems can be so absorbing that we become blind to anything good. Here's an example. My husband Ed and I once lived near an Army base in Indiana, where he had been assigned for an indefinite period. It was possible he would eventually be sent to the Korean front.
We had a lot to be grateful for—suitable housing, despite the reluctance of landlords to rent to Army people; churches we could attend; employment for me; and above all, the fact that we could be together.
Nevertheless, I became increasingly depressed over our unsettled state. The gloomier I got, the more I found justifications for my attitude.
