Today is your independence day
Independence means different things to different people.
This year marks the 225th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. This document represents political and personal freedom to many Americans.
But people in every country are often looking for the kind of liberation from oppression that goes beyond governments—for permanent freedom from want, sickness, misery, mortality. And independence often means different things to different people.
The founder of this magazine saw that "God has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, reason, and conscience" (Science and Health, p. 106). This points to a really satisfying way to seek and find independence.
