The morning sun glinted on the wet leaves, as I removed them from the deck of my friend's home. We had decided to tidy up the garden area before setting out for the Canadian Rockies. The deck was above the ground, with steps to a path below. The steps were damp from rain the night before, and I failed to notice that they were very slippery.
As I put my foot on the top step, I found myself shooting to the ground. I landed on the edge of the last step. Yes, I was shocked, dazed, and winded, but an inner voice said, "Put yourself into the kingdom." So with my understanding of the "kingdom" as the kingdom of heaven, I felt a comforting awareness of God's presence.
At this moment my friend's nephew came and helped me to my feet. We walked into the house, where I asked to be left alone for a while, assuring my friend and her nephew that all would be well.
