Sore on breast healed through prayer
About four years ago a very painful sore suddenly appeared on my breast. I was opening a box of letters when I noticed it—letters that reminded me of a sad family experience. As a Christian Scientist for more than 25 years, I knew that my need was to turn to God as the only cause.
Several women in my family have had their breasts removed because of breast cancer. And I've often been urged by relatives to have a yearly mammogram. Reports I'd heard about breast cancer had also added to the emphasis on this problem.
I called a Christian Science practitioner to ask for help through prayer, and she and I prayed together for several months. From the beginning, she let me know that she was not praying for a sick Elizabeth, but rather that she was praying to understand more fully that I was a spiritual being, made in God's likeness, and could not experience sickness and suffering.
