Clearer vision
Eight years ago, when I had an examination for reading glasses, the eye doctor told me that I was beginning to have glaucoma. He said that I should start putting drops in my eyes. I thanked him, but explained that I was a student of Christian Science and would handle this problem through prayer.
Ideas from the Bible, including "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Prov. 3:6), were important to me, and I kept them uppermost in thought. I also studied the spiritual definition of eyes, as given in Science and Health (about what eyes can symbolize), which is, "Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental" (p. 586).
In 1995, I established a new home in Oregon. Eventually I needed to apply for a new driver's license. Since I used glasses for reading as well as for driving, I decided to have my eyes checked before taking the test. The examination showed there was no glaucoma.
