A HEALING occasion

She Sat Alone beside the pool, not far from the late-summer flower beds, her head in her hands, weeping inconsolably. She seemed unaware of the salmon-pink clouds that flared over the dome of The Mother Church after a day of gray skies and soaking rain, or of the thousands of people who were gathering for an evening of "Candlelight, Reflection, and Song"—a "healing occasion" offered September 14 by The Mother Church for the community as part of the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance.

She is an entertainment industry major at Emerson College, and told the person who stepped forward to comfort her that she had been in New York City on a rock band assignment and was just four blocks away when the World Trade Center towers collapsed.

"What you guys have done here this evening is so incredible," she said. "It helps everybody who was as shocked as I was. This is the first time I've been able to stop, think about it, grieve, and get a sense of peace."
