A flight attendant's thoughts
Erika Rome is a Boston-based flight attendant for United Airlines. She was scheduled for a flight on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 11—the same day terrorists crashed jets belonging to United and American Airlines into New York City's World Trade Center. She spoke about her response to events.
What was your first response?
I was sad and very concerned about the flight attendants who were on the airplanes. I prayed for all the people involved—not just the flight attendants, but those in the World Trade Center, and those who were watching the incident. I could find comfort in knowing that they could never be separated from the love of God. I felt that it was my job to pray and to know that for the world.
