Injured fingers quickly healed
I was spending a good deal of time working with and riding a friend's horses. One afternoon after finishing some chores, I was using all my strength to shut the sliding door tightly into the metal pieces that keep it closed against the wall. But I was distracted by talking with someone, and I inadvertently left two fingers directly in the path of the door. The door shut completely over my fingers, clamping them between the metal pieces of the door and the wall.
I knew I had to get the door open again to release my fingers. As I did this, I remembered this statement from Science and Health: "Accidents are unknown to God..." (p. 424). I continued to hear other inspired messages, and I realized that I could not be separated from good. Another idea from Science and Health came: "There is no pain in Truth, and no truth in pain..." (p. 113). As these messages came to my thought, another very important thing was happening. I was so completely aware of the calming and persistent presence of Christ that this kept me from looking at the fingers. I completely turned my thought to God, and this nullified the fear and pain. I had about a thirty-minute drive home and was able to use just the top of my hand to shift the manual gears on the car. I listened consistently to the messages still flooding my thought.
