Although There Have been many "niche" Bibles over the years, none has been produced for African American women until now. Among its features will be notes on women of the Bible who may have been black, such as Esther, Ruth, Naomi, Miriam, Martha, and Phoebe, not to mention Candace, the queen of Ethiopia, and Jochebed, the mother of Moses.
"This will make the Bible relevant for a woman of color," explains Rev. Janette Koty of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. [It will] "let her know that she was not an afterthought but a definite part of God's plan."
The Women of Color Study Bible is now available.
