A West Bank militia commander is killed by a missile from an Israeli helicopter gunship. In retaliation, Palestinian snipers fire on Israeli troops guarding Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem. The Israeli Prime Minister issues this warning: "Whoever hits us will be hit."

Such patterns of conflict repeat themselves tragically. The question remains: "Why?"
