To Our Readers

If someone asked you to describe your "richest moment"—what would you say?

Maybe you'd tell them about the time your dad brought home your first puppy. Or the day you signed up to become a "big brother" to a little boy without a father. Or the moment you realized that you could go back to college—even though you're a great-grandma.

And probably, as you thought about the really special moments in your life, you discovered something: that they had nothing to do with money. Or with the house you lived in. Or the car you drove or the investments you had. Because moments of superabundance transcend all those things. They are, in fact, moments of spiritual wealth.

Well, if you felt that way, you've got something in common with the people who contributed to our cover story, "Moments of richness." They all tell about receiving an unexpected gift. A treasure they couldn't buy or measure or wrap or send. A forever gift.

In this season of gift-giving, these stories are a poignant reminder that the most unforgettable gifts are both simple and beyond buying. Ultimately, they're gifts from God.
