I could hear again
I would like to share a healing I had a couple of years ago. One morning, I woke, put the telephone receiver to my ear, and found I could not hear the dial tone. This was startling, as my hearing had always been excellent. I began to pray—to affirm to myself my identity as the perfect child of God. I had learned that all my faculties are complete and permanent because they are gifts from God.
I prayed with various ideas, in particular this passage from Science and Health: "Sight, hearing, all the spiritual senses of man, are eternal. They cannot be lost" (p. 486).
After a while, I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me. The practitioner gave me many helpful ideas pertaining to the fact that God had made my identity spiritual and perfect. Then I went back to praying on my own.
