Prayer during an international crisis

An experience during the Cuban missile crisis continues to encourage me.

You May Have thought that when it came to some governmental action (or inaction), you had every right to gript. At the height of frustration, it seems that someone has to speak up—loudly—to get things back on track.

Yes, an authoritative voice does need to be heard—by everyone. But the voice I'm referring to is the voice of God—the divine Mind. And God speaks to us in our thoughts.

The basic problem wherever friction occurs (whether in government, or any other situation where people live or work together) is that every person seems to have a mind of his or her own, a mind and will apart from God. But the idea that there is more than one God, more than one Mind, sets the stage for conflict. And all too often, we act out that conflict, instead of turning to God in prayer. It's through our prayers that we hear God's message. Discern His wisdom. Find that, because God is infinite, and He loves and cares for us all, God is speaking to each of us. The divine Mind provides direction; promotes charity in place of rivalry, unselfishness rather than self–interest.
