THE LORD DOES PROVIDE
Several years ago I was feeling weighed down by the daily struggle to provide for my four young children. We had recently moved to a new area, and despite much effort, I was unable to find work in my field. In an area with a housing shortage, I needed to find a suitable, permanent place to live. To make matters worse, Christmas was coming, with all the extra expenses of the holiday season.
One day, in a moment of despair, I opened the Bible at random. I was hoping to find relief from the insecurity and anxiety I was feeling.
I looked at the opening verse of the 23rd Psalm: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." This tender message had often comforted and encouraged me. Now, however, it read more like a command. And it pierced my gloom.
