Thanks for making the Sentinel so sharable!
Response to the August 14 issue
In response to Allison Tar's essay in "Making a difference in the new millennium," some may live in a part of the country where people maintain their personal distance, but people here in Portland do not walk down the street, absorbed in their own thoughts.
Every morning my husband and I take a walk, and everyone we meet—dog walkers, joggers, walkers, teenagers—smile with a gracious "good morning" or "hi." My sister, living in an eastern city, has commented when visiting and shopping here that no matter whether she makes a purchase or not, there is always a smile from the clerks.
Oregonians don't have to start smiling. We already do.

I am especially grateful for the article "Olympics under the magnifying glass." We all need to amplify the positive nature of good and resist and reject the negativity of evil. This will be equally good for the winter Olympics. My thanks for this timely article and for all who contribute to making the Sentinel the jewel that it is for guiding our thoughts and prayers in addressing current events. I'm confident this article will bless all who read it, and those who watch the Olympics will be participating more actively by magnifying the good. I know I will.

Timely, easy to share
I appreciate the Sentinel more with every issue. Each one is so current and has answers for me and my loved ones. My stepdaughters often enjoy a copy I have earmarked for them, and recently one of them happily accepted a subscription. Thanks for making the Sentinel so sharable!
