Speaking of changes in thought that are shedding light on intuition, astronomer Luke Keller comments on the perspectives that have separated science and nature, and how, over the centuries, philosophers have had to rethink that separation.
He observes that "in the eighteenth century, natural philosophers tried to divide the mystical from the natural ..., thus was born the 'supernatural.' "
He goes on, "In the twentieth century, scientists and philosophers realized that we cannot separate ourselves from the mysteries we observe in nature. In the twenty-first, it is our challenge to allow our scientific methods of developing physical awareness and our spiritual approach to the mysteries of the natural world to become mutually informative. We are challenged by our own discoveries to realize that 'supernatural' is a misnomer."
