How do you make big decisions? Do you discuss all the options with family and friends? Make long lists of pros and cons? Research all the ramifications?

While these may be useful steps, they may not bring the clarity necessary to make a confident decision. What's needed is spiritual light.

We hope you'll find that the prayers, spiritual study, and healing experiences authors share in this column help bring the right choices and truly satisfying decisions to light in your life.

Trusting God to meet our need

Have you ever wanted to repay a debt but felt you couldn't because you didn't have enough money? You know that your desire is rightly motivated, but you think maybe you should wait a while—hold on to your resources until things improve—and then you'll have enough.

I found an answer to this problem through prayer—prayer that lifted my thought to a concept of man as the loved child of God, governed by His law of abundant good—a law that is always available to everyone, everywhere.

Some years ago, during a backpacking tour of a distant country, I was staying with my cousin and her young family while I looked for temporary work. My finances were very low. Upon arriving I had responded to a job advertisement and was now awaiting the company's reply. During this time I wanted to contribute my share toward the family's household expenses, but fear of lack held me back. I felt that first I should find a job. Then, I reasoned, when I had an income, I would be able to pay my way. But I still wasn't happy at continuing to accept my cousin's hospitality without giving anything in return.
