Healing following overexposure to the cold
In the middle of January, I had to make a trip from Indianapolis to Boston to do some consulting. It was about a fifteen-hour trip each way by car. On the way back there was a very bad snowstorm. I had to be back in Indianapolis, so I drove through the storm, planning to stop if conditions got too bad. I reached home in about twice the normal time. And, as my car had a broken heater fan, the cold affected my feet.
One of my toes was a very dark color, but there was no pain, so I ignored it at first. Soon, however, there was some very serious swelling and discoloration in the rest of my foot, and it seemed to be moving up my leg. I thought it might be frostbite.
