A NATURAL JOY IN LIFE

"Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."

When I was new in my study of Christian Science, one of the things I loved most was the joy expressed by those embracing this teaching. It wasn't phony or forced—it was natural and consistent. I often wondered if it was possible to feel this joy myself. I longed to know what the Psalmist meant when he wrote, "Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit" (Ps. 51:12).

My life had been profoundly changed through learning about Christian Science. After numerous surgical procedures that failed to produce satisfactory results, I found myself wrestling with a frightening condition that the medical profession was unable to cure. At this point I took up Christian Science, and I found complete healing through studying the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Nothing has been the same since I experienced this renewal. And, over time, I've found that the Psalmist's words have come true in my own life.
