THE BEGINNING OF A FRIENDSHIP

I wanted to be more aware of those who needed love and support. One Sunday after church as I entered the large foyer, I noticed a lady standing alone. I walked up to her and we started talking.

A friendship between us began. Sometimes we would sit in the park and watch children play, or we would have lunch together. Our times together became blessings to both of us as I began to see how expressing love brings joy into every aspect of our lives. I was learning the value of simple acts of kindness.

In coping with the day-to-day duties of our lives, it might seem easy to forget those in need. But the desire to love, help, and support others is a natural outgrowth of a Christian life. It is often seen in the tender mercy shown to another, in quiet, selfless acts of kindness that do not require acknowledgment or commendation.
