Children's snapshots of God

For its March issue, Life magazine gave cameras to fifty-six children, aged eight to thirteen, living in areas as diverse as Texas and New York and asked them to take pictures that illustrate their concept of God.

Although many pictures dealt with death—a topic youngsters often have difficulty grappling with—others offered unusual insights. One twelve-year-old took a picture of a stapler because, she said, "a stapler, like God, binds things together. God is always there to hold together your thoughts and feelings."
