Protection from fire; other healings
One afternoon as I was putting the last coat of paint on the outside of our new home, I looked down at the valley below and noticed some smoke. I didn't think too much about it then. When I looked out a little later, however, I saw a lot more smoke and a blaze of fire moving toward our property.
I started praying immediately to understand that there was no cause for fear. I knew with solid assurance that since God had placed us here, and He is in control, we were safe in His care.
As we had no telephone service, there was no way to call for help. We had very little water on our property because we hadn't yet been connected to the water district's sources. But I knew that God was not in the fire, and as His spiritual ideas, neither were we. Feeling only His presence, I experienced no fear or panic. Two firemen soon arrived and remained with us to help. Late in the afternoon, knowing the men were hungry, I decided to prepare something for them to eat. Although the situation continued to be critical, I was not thinking of the danger, but was, rather, feeling completely at peace as the result of my continuing reliance on God and His control.
