Injured elbow fully healed
One day while I was walking down a small hill to the mailbox, I slipped on a patch of ice. Sticking my arm out to break my fall, I fell hard and severely injured my elbow. My first thought was "O God, please help me." As I managed to get to my feet I thought, "There are no accidents in God's kingdom." And a statement from Science and Health came to me: "Never born and never dying, it were impossible for man, under the government of God in eternal Science, to fall from his high estate" (p. 258).
As I made my way to the house, I realized that I needed to decide if I would trust in God. My answer was "God only is my source of perfection. He is the only physician for me." My daughter came and helped me into the house. Seeing her fear and alarm, I told her just to give me a few moments, and I would be fine. We have a small room with a lot of windows we use as a study. Sitting down there, I quietly prayed. In a few minutes my daughter told me she had called her dad and a fellow church member. They both were on their way to help. Thanking her, I called my friend back and assured her that she did not need to come, but that her loving response was greatly appreciated. When my husband arrived a few minutes later, he told me he had called a Christian Science practitioner to treat me through prayer.
