Lifetime reliance on God

A young person whom I was dating shared Christian Science with me. We were later married. More than forty years later, we're still married! I was very receptive to the truth of this religion. One of Christ Jesus' Beatitudes applies so well to me: "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled" (Matt. 5:6).

Blessings have continuously been manifested in my life, as when I was healed of the smoking habit from the prayerful treatment of a Christian Science practitioner. I then applied for and was admitted to membership in The Mother Church. Shortly thereafter, I became an active member of a branch Church. Migraine headaches and a painful slipped vertebra were both corrected as I applied Christian Science in my daily life. I realized that God is not the author of disease or pain; His harmony is here, both now and always.

Migraine headaches and a painful slipped vertebra were both corrected as I applied Christian Science in my daily life.

The Bible states, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Gen. 1:31). And Science and Health states, "Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have no pain nor inflammation" (p. 393). This and other equally powerful statements from Science and Health and the Bible, as well as helpful articles in the Christian Science periodicals, enabled me to have quick, harmonious births when our two children were born.

I know, too, that Christian Science helped us in raising our children, and in solving the health, personality, relationship, and financial challenges that we faced from time to time. Is it any wonder that I am grateful for the "tools" that we have to know and prove that God is an ever-present help and the only healer!
