HOW I LEARNED TO SEE THE THINGS OF SPIRIT

Some people learn quickly and naturally how to live life from a spiritual basis. Others, like me, have to test the waters and try all sorts of things before they eventually find out what they are really looking for.

Almost as early as I can remember, I felt torn between spiritual and material views of life. At one point, longing for spirituality, I tried my hand as a nun. After three days I felt that wasn't for me. Then I became a medical nurse, but focusing on people's bodies and disease depressed me.

I wasn't making much progress in my spiritual search, so I started looking for meaning in material pleasures. I explored the glamour and glitz of London's most fashionable night clubs, but that soon lost its spark and left me more desperate than ever to find my true identity.
