Daily needs met

God nourishes us.

When the balance in my checkbook reached an all-time low of $1.67, fear and a feeling of personal responsibility were almost overwhelming. I had been transferred to another city by my company. Everything in this new area, from rent, to groceries, to gas, was more expensive. This move did not include a raise in pay, and I was the sole support of three young daughters. The small savings I had were soon used up just to meet our daily needs.

One day while driving home from work, I was feeling very discouraged. The rent was due the next day, I owed the child-care provider a week's salary, we needed groceries, and I was low on gas. I very sincerely, very humbly cried out to God to help me see through this lie of lack. At that point, I remembered a conversation with a friend who had pointed out her new view of the words from a much-loved hymn. It reads in part:
