In both the United States and Britain, more and more fathers are staying home with their children. Many of these dads are delighted with the opportunity, but they sometimes feel a need for a supportive network such as the ones mothers develop. In fact, some fathers complain that they are rebuffed by mothers when they take the children out to the park or playgrounds.
Networking among other dads is a good option. In the United States, there is an At-Home Dad Network, which issues a quarterly newsletter "promoting the home-based father." The issues include articles and "kid tips" that cover everything from helping a small child eat cheese to letting youngsters help with Christmas card envelopes. This group also has a Web site: http://www.parentsplace.com/readroom/athomedad/
The British organization, which is somewhat smaller, can be reached by mail: Househusband Link, P.O. Box 636, Thornton Heath, London CR78TQ.
