Abdominal pain healed
Late this past summer I began experiencing a nagging pain in the lower right side of my abdomen. My mind was swirling with thoughts of what this might be. Instead of going to a doctor for a diagnosis, however, I yielded to Paul's entreaty in his First Epistle to the Thessalonians to "pray without ceasing" (5:17).
Daily, and again at bedtime, I diligently repeated and thought about the meaning of the Lord's Prayer, "the scientific statement of being" (see Science and Health, p. 468), and a favorite passage from Science and Health, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (p. 494). I also reminded myself of Mrs. Eddy's remedial assurance, "Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have no pain nor inflammation" (ibid., p. 393).
