"Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation,...
"Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light" (I Pet. 2:9). These words express regeneration; they call us from darkness into God's light. Since I began studying Christian Science, I have been experiencing more of the light as revealed by the Bible and Science and Health.
After reading Science and Health briefly, I felt the presence of good thoughts for a change!
Before I found out about God's law in Christian Science, just about anything would get me frustrated. My attitude was noticed by others, and I often felt out of things as a result. One day I noticed my roommate with a book. Curious, I asked about it, and my roommate told me it was Science and Health. What was even more wonderful, he asked me if I wanted to read the book. I accepted it and began reading immediately.
After reading Science and Health briefly, I felt the presence of good thoughts for a change! That was the beginning of a permanent change in my negative attitude. "You must control evil thoughts in the first instance, or they will control you in the second," says Science and Health (p. 234). There was nothing better for me to know that that I could control my thoughts before they controlled me.
I knew this was a blessing that came from God. At this time I did not have any idea how to pray. Christ Jesus tells us in Mark, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them" (11:24). From this point I started praying vigorously each day. All things became new. Not only has there been a transformation of my character; now I'm at peace.
From studying and praying I have found that in God I can truly trust.
