SPIRITUAL JOURNEYS
Finding real satisfaction
When I was a child, our family moved to a new home on the beach, near my grandmother. Mom and Dad were finding it difficult to find a Sunday School that would teach us about God—as a loving presence to trust and love, not as someone to be feared.
When all attempts at finding the right Sunday School for us seemed to be exhausted, my grandmother asked my parents if she could take us to a Sunday School in a Church of Christ, Scientist. Mom and Dad agreed on one condition, that we were not to learn "that healing thing." As we soon found out, though, it is impossible to attend a Christian Science church and not hear about spiritual healing. It just comes with the territory.
We continued attending the Christian Science Sunday School, and we loved what we were learning about God as Father-Mother, always caring for us as His perfect children. We couldn't wait to go back each week. Grandma would drive us there.
