What molds our speech?
Communication involves ideas. Without an idea there's nothing to write, act out, or say. Ideas may appear to originate in a human mind, but do they? The Bible points us toward a different source: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2:5). It is man's nature and purpose to express the one divine Mind, God. This Mind, which every individual actually reflects, is the source of all true ideas.
Addressing a speech class, talking to a club, making a presentation at a meeting at work, giving a professional paper—all are opportunities to yield to the one Mind and to express Mind's intelligence. To prove this, it is essential to turn our thought away from any view of ourselves as a petrified person with a speaking assignment and instead to see our nature as Mind's reflection, completely embraced by Mind.
Since man reflects, gives evidence of, God, Mind, the true thoughts we have must actually come from Mind. There is no burden of responsibility on us to originate them. It is inherent in Mind to express itself. Our capacity for expression is really divine Mind's own limitless capacity reflected, made manifest, blossoming out in us. The truth is that we are God's spiritual expression and can never be cut off from our origin, any more than Mind, infinite and eternal, could cease to exist.
