My daily portion of heaven
"Heaven is everywhere,"
our four-year-old exclaimed,
painting a colorful landscape
and taking a moment to think
that the same heaven,
now drawn by him as a thin blue line,
at night carries the stars—
and surrounds the earth!
"Heaven is everywhere!"
The blue horizon
but a promise of infinity
within, without.
Blissful vision for a moment,
sanctification for a whole day!
Heaven's colors: the hues of Spirit,
carrying ideas like stars.
"Heaven is everywhere."
My daily portion of heaven,
my daily bread.
I open my eyes and behold
inner landscapes
painted by Love's graces,
and thought's canvas is filled
with blessed, beautiful images.
"Heaven is everywhere!"
Yes, and when the heart,
swift with prayer's wings,
sails above self
and countersings
earth's downward-pulling forces,
heaven is revealed,
everywhere.
