Listening for God's thoughts
David had a little dog called Piglet. He was very fond of her. They enjoyed playing all kinds of games together. One evening, however, Piglet became very sick. This made David feel sad. After he had made her comfortable in her basket at the foot of his bed, he knew that he must pray for her.
One of the things he had learned about in the Christian Science Sunday School was God's love for all His creation. David loved Hymn 83 from the Christian Science Hymnal, which starts, "God made all His creatures free;/ Life itself is liberty ...."
David had also learned how to pray, both for himself and for others. He knew that he could pray to see Piglet's perfection. The Bible tells us that all God created is good. He is perfect, so all He made must be perfect, too. David knew that in prayer it is very important to listen quietly for God's thoughts, which we sometimes call angels. (You can read about angels on page 581 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.)
