Many years ago a Christian Science Sentinel magazine was given to my uncle, with the result that various members of the family eventually became Christian Scientists.
The Bible had always been an open book for me, as I had attended a mainstream Protestant church and taught in its Sunday School. But I can assure you I had little actual spiritual understanding. So I was very grateful when I was led to study Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, which gave the Bible a whole new meaning to me and enabled me to understand that man is God's reflection. In it, Mary Baker Eddy writes on page 475: "The Scriptures inform us that man is made in the image and likeness of God. Matter is not that likeness."
I have had many healings through prayer—of back trouble, colds, a sprained ankle, and financial lack, to name some. These all came with the recognition that God loves His children. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Rom. 8:28).
